We believe in the Plan of Salvation, which was set forth in a grand council in Heaven, in which our Heavenly Father, father to our spirits, which he created, presented a plan for us to become like him, happy and perfected forever.
If I were sitting down with you in a personal setting, here is how I would explain this plan of Happiness, also known as the Plan of Salvation to you (you can have a missionary also come and visit you in your home at any time, and share this plan with you). (Please also note, if you have not as of yet, figured out how to find the truth all things, we invite you to read the principles of Truth first):
- We existed before coming to earth
We understand that every person, good or evil, born on this earth, existed and lived with our Heavenly Parents in a pre-existence. We were individuals, male and female, and had spirit bodies. (Spirit is matter, but more refined and pure, whereas our bodies are also matter, flesh and bones, necessary to receive and experience a fullness of joy, part of the plan). We were God’s spiritual offspring, intelligences, organized as spirit children of a Loving perfect Heavenly father. - God had a plan of Happiness for his children
Because of God’s love and desire for us to be happy, as well as the realization that God (an exalted man with a perfect body of flesh and bones) was different than us, in that he had a perfected and glorious body of flesh and bones, and knew good from evil, and could feel things we were not able to as of yet, we were desirous to become like him, and have joy and family like him. In love we can’t fully understand in this life, God presented a plan to his children in a grand council in Heaven, known as the Plan of Happiness, or the Plan of Salvation (This is the plan we are now discussing in this article).
